With 17 games remaining in the regular season the Baltimore Orioles have clinched an AL East title for the 4th time in the last 5 years. The Orioles last trip to the ALCS found the team getting edged out by the Oakland A's in 5 games in 1971. Oakland currently holds a slim 1/2 game lead over the White Sox in the AL West.
With solid pitching (currently 2nd in the ARAIGBB with a 3.11 team ERA) and a batting lineup that could terrorize anyone (currently 1st in ARAIGBB with a .274 team batting average), the O's are looking to make 1973 the year to win it all.
Time will tell to see what Baltimore manager Earl Weaver will do with his lineup for the remaining games in the regular season, but you can bet this quote from Earl might give some insight on what he is thinking, "I wanted no part of losing. Why play if you can't beat the other guys more often than they beat you?" Earl Weaver
