Twin Wins for White Sox Against Minnesota

May 15, 1972
CHICAGO -- Wilbur Wood (4-5) knuckled his way through 9 full innings for a W and a 5-3 White Sox winner. He overcame a 3-hit performance by Harmon Killebrew (6), including his 2-run blast in the 3rd. The ChiSox responded with 4 runs in the B3. Jay Johnstone and Rick Riechardt each knocked in 2 runs. Jim Perry (1-2) started and lost for the Twins.

May 16, 1972
CHICAGO -- A trio of Minnesota hurlers held the White Sox to just 1 run and 3 hits as the Twins evened the series with a 4-1 win. Dick Woodson (2-3) started and pitched 7 innings, followed by Jim Strickland and Wayne Granger (1). Rod Carew banged out 3 hits and Danny Thompson knocked in 2. Killebrew (7) went yard once again. Stan Bahnsen (1-5) started and lost for Chicago.

May 17, 1972
CHICAGO -- Dick Allen (4) and Tom Egan (2) hit 2-run home runs in the 3rd and 4th innings, respectively, to lead Chicago to a 7-2 victory in the series closer. Tom Bradley (2-4) tossed 7 IP for the W. Bert Blyleven (2-3) took the loss.
