Redbirds Best Rival Cubs in 2 of 3 Early Ones

ST. LOUIS -- Two late inning RBI singles from Milt Pappas (2-0) and Jim Hickman sealed the deal in a 4-2 Cubs win on the road.

April 14, 1973
ST. LOUIS -- Alan Foster (1) got Ron Santo to bounce out to the mound with 2 outs and the bases loaded in the 9th to cap a 2-inning save of a 2-1 Cardinals win. Bernie Carbo doubled home Ken Reitz with the game-winner in the 7th.

April 15, 1973
ST. LOUIS -- Cubs down 5-2 heading in to the 9th, score 2, but come up short when Diego Segui (1) gets Glenn Beckert to ground out to 1B with the bases jammed.
