#1) at Chicago – Luis Aparicio (3) doubled, homered and drove in 2 runs to
power Chicago to a DH opening win, 6-3. Bobby
Knoop also had 2 hits and 2 RBI. Jim
Palmer (15-6) and Joel Horlen
(8-11) were the pitcher’s of record and tossed complete games. Palmer (1) also cracked a solo HR in
the game.
Ju1y 19, 1970 (Game
#2) at Chicago – Ken Berry (5) homered and drove in 3 runs to lead Chicago
to an improbable DH sweep of the Orioles with a 5-4 win in the nightcap. The
ChiSox overcame a 4-0 deficit after 4.5 innings. Floyd Weaver (2-1) pitched well in relief for the W. Wilbur Wood (15) secured the save.
July 20, 1970 at
Chicago – Baltimore took the series finale, 7-5, with Brooks Robinson collected a couple of 2-baggers and driving 4. Mike Cuellar (16-5) tossed the complete
game.
