ChiSox Double Up Twins

April 9, 1971
CHICAGO -- Terry Forster (1-0) and Don Eddy (1) backed up starter Tom Bradley (6 IP) in a 4-2 White Sox in the series opener. Bee Bee Richard, Walt Williams and Rick Reichardt banged out 2 hits each.

CHICAGO -- "No-Neck" Williams tripled in the 5th and scored on a 2-out bunt single by Richard. Those were the only two ChiSox hits, but it was all Tommy John (1-1), Jim Magnuson, and Vicente Romo (1) would need in a 1-0 blanking of the Twins. Jim Perry (0-2) was the hard-luck loser for Minnesota.

CHICAGO -- Harmon Killebrew (1) homered and walked twice, scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 more as the Twins capture the finale, 10-4. Steve Braun (1) blasted a 2-run, PH tater, and Jim Holt collected 3 safeties. Jim Kaat (1-0) earned the W on the hill.
