4/14/1978 - Stadie Olympique'
Zachry vs May
Expos 3, Mets 2
Rudy May cruised for 8 innings allowing just 1 run on a Tim Foli RBI single in the 7th. Montreal staked May to a 3-0 lead with 2 runs in the first off of an Andre Dawson Triple and a Gary Carter Sac fly. Carter added his 2nd RBI of the day in the 5th when he doubled home Dave Cash, who led off the inning with a walk. After completing a scoreless 8th, May was replaced by Hal Dues in the 9th. After getting Doug Flynn to ground into a 3-6-3 DP, Dues looked home free. Pinch hitter Bruce Boisclair would have nothing of that and launched a 386 foot home to right center to make it a one run game. Lenny Randle followed with a one hoppper off the wall for a two bagger. That would be it for Dues, who was replaced by Stan Bahnsen. Tim Foli strolled to the plate and was looking at a 1-2 count after 3 pitches. The bespecled shortstop choked up on the bat to avoid the strikeout and hit a hard smash to Tony Perez at first, which turned into the final out of the game as "Doggie" scooped it up off the carpet with ease.
