They weren't even close

GAME 1: “El Presidente” Dennis Martinez (3-2) was in dictatorial control with a 4-hitter as the Orioles blanked the White Sox 9-0. Al Bumbry, Billy Smith, Ken Singleton and Lee May all had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

GAME 2: South-siders put crooked numbers on the board in the 1st (4), 5th (4) and 8th (3) and cruised to an 11-5 victory. Jorge Orta, Bobby Bonds, Lamar Johnson and Eric Soderholm each contributed 3 hits in a 17-hit Sox attack. Chet Lemon’s 3-run shot off Jim Palmer traveled 462 feet and bounced off the facade at the top of Comiskey Park. It seemed to take the air from under the Orioles wings.

GAME 3: Francisco Barrios (2-2) made his bid to be president of Mexico with a 2-hit shutout in a 12-0 Chicago win in the finale. Lemon added 3 more hits for the ChiSox. Wayne Nordhagen clocked a 3-run HR.
