GAME 1: “El Presidente” Dennis Martinez (3-2)
was in dictatorial control with a 4-hitter as the Orioles blanked the White Sox
9-0. Al Bumbry, Billy Smith, Ken
Singleton and Lee May all had 2
hits and 2 RBI.
GAME 2: South-siders
put crooked numbers on the board in the 1st (4), 5th
(4) and 8th (3) and cruised to an 11-5 victory. Jorge Orta, Bobby Bonds, Lamar Johnson and Eric Soderholm each contributed 3 hits in a 17-hit Sox attack. Chet Lemon’s 3-run shot off Jim Palmer traveled 462 feet and
bounced off the facade at the top of Comiskey
Park . It seemed to take the air
from under the Orioles wings.
GAME 3: Francisco
Barrios (2-2) made his bid to be president of Mexico
with a 2-hit shutout in a 12-0 Chicago
win in the finale. Lemon added 3
more hits for the ChiSox. Wayne
