Brewers Take Two From Yanks

Gorman Thomas hits 2 of
Milwaukee's 6 homers in
the series.

Milwaukee 9  New York 2
GAME 1:
Bambi's Bombers lit up the scoreboard slashing out 14 hits including 3 HRs and 3 doubles to knock off the Yankee invaders 9-2.  Pitcher Jerry Augustine, gassed after just 5 IP, still hung on for his second win of the season.  Eduardo Rodriguez did 4 innings in relief to get the save.  The Bronx Bombers managed 11 hits of their own, but none for extra bases.
Milwaukee 7  New York 4
GAME 2:
Milwaukee built a 7 run lead off of 2 home runs by Gorman Thomas (3) and 1 by Larry Hisle (3) but hung on for dear life to fend off New York, 7-4, by games end.  The Yankees out hit the Brewers for the game 10 to 9 but it was the long ball that saved the Crew in the end.  Bucky Dent, Chris Chambliss and Roy White all hit their first homers of the season for the Yanks.  Moos Haas picks up win number 1 of the season and Bill Castro gets his first save.  Milwaukee improves to 3-2 on the season while New York drops to 1-4.
